The purpose of Stichting Wildlife

Stichting Wildlife aims to protect endangered species both in the Netherlands and abroad. To this end, the foundation supports as many as 30 projects working to protect various habitats and wildlife species. By 2024, we have thus helped protect as many as 39 endangered and vulnerable species! In addition, the volunteer guides are happy to tell ZooParc visitors all about the projects, what the threats and opportunities of certain species are and how you too can help protect these animals. Head of education Klaas-Jan tells you all about the 2024 project in the video.

How did Stichting Wildlife come into being?

The Stichting Vrienden Safaripark Beekse Bergen was set up in 1985 to prevent the imminent closure of Safaripark Beekse Bergen. Fortunately, the park was soon taken over by Libéma. The foundation was not dissolved then, but decided to continue and work for education and nature conservation. In 2004, Libéma opened Dierenrijk and in 2015 ZooParc Overloon and Aquazoo Leeuwarden joined them. The foundation is active in all these parks, which is why the name changed to Stichting Wildlife.
