Souvenirshop Marjon aan het werk in ZooParc

Guest services assistant Marjon

A behind-the-scenes look at guest services worker Marjon

Introducing

Marjon has been working at ZooParc for 18 years! She is 1 of the 3 guest service employees. There are also about 6 employees who deal with the large flow of incoming visitors. Marjon's work involves just a little bit more!

What does a workday look like?

Every day is different. As a guest services employee, you are the first in the park to open the park and the last to leave and close everything. They manage the cash register, do ticket sales, close subscriptions, answer phone calls and emails, deal with first aid and BHV cases, manage the souvenir shop, make sure the signs at the entrance show the correct feed presentations for that day and make sure everything always looks neat and tidy. A varied job with many tasks and responsibilities! And, of course, taking a walk around the park during the break to see some of the animals as well.

What makes the work so enjoyable?

The variety in both the work and the team, that's what makes the job so much fun! In fact, the team consists of a nice mix between somewhat older and younger employees. That's nice for the dynamics! As a guest service employee, you have many different tasks. And if you look at the questions they get every day, they vary enormously. They really get questions about everything from helping to buy tickets, to questions about discounts, requests for volunteers, parties, whether someone can bring their dog and much more. Marjon really experiences everything this way, every day something happens. After 18 years that still remains a lot of fun every day!
