Zoo continues to invest and innovate: On expedition at ZooParc Overloon

ZooParc Overloon continues to invest and innovate. The Brabant zoo, located near the provincial border of Gelderland and Limburg, is currently putting the finishing touches to its fresh new look, which is mainly shaped by the theme "expedition. This of course includes a new logo and updated floor plan but also new animals: Siberian tigers will arrive soon and the arrival of a group of African lions is imminent.

As a true explorer, visitors to ZooParc Overloon will soon explore the areas where cheetahs, tigers, monkeys and many more special animal species live. During the expedition, they carry out assignments to complete the journey. But beware, because lions are lurking....

The penguin area - named Expedition Boulders Beach (a famous beach in South Africa where these black-footed penguins are found) is already completely finished and features an additional sandy beach where visitors can walk among these funny animals. The penguin group is also being expanded to 20 birds.

Headquarter

Hidden between the bamboo is the Headquarter: the headquarters of Expedition ZooParc Overloon! Here the red pandas stay and visitors will find all the info and provisions for their expedition. Branch manager Martin van Hees is enthusiastic about the new theming: "We are implementing everything in phases, but you can see that it is coming to life more by the week. Just before the summer vacations everything must be ready. By the way, in the week before Easter we expect the Siberian tigers."

Expedition Ngorongoro

During Expedition Ngorongoro, visitors to ZooParc Overloon will meet the wild dogs and cheetahs and, starting this summer, lions. "We are awaiting the issuance of the building permit for a new enclosure of almost 2,700 square meters. Once that is in, we will start immediately. We then want to be ready well before the summer vacations, preferably as early as May. The six male lions will come from Safaripark Beekse Bergen," said Van Hees.

Outback

Think of Australia? Then you think kangaroos! On the Outback, you will discover different species of kangaroos in a very adventurous way and up close! In a few months there will also be dromedaries roaming the Outback. The latter is more logical than you might think, because Down Under they don't look up from crossing dromedaries either. Over time, these animals have been shipped from Europe to Australia to serve as pack animals.

Other expedition areas

The remaining expeditions have the following names: Amazon (including tapirs, small predator monkeys), Jangalee (white tigers, Siberian tigers), Baobab (ring-tailed lemurs), Forest (including birds, meerkats) and Adventure Trail (playground, theater, terrace and petting zoo).
