ZooParc welcomes 16 young animals during winter birth wave
Overloon, January 28, 2020 - Spring has yet to arrive, but ZooParc Overloon is already experiencing a real wave of births. Over the past few weeks, the zoo has welcomed sixteen young animals.
The birth wave began in December with the arrival of the first young penguin. In the following weeks, three more penguins followed and seven black swans hatched. Then in late December, a kangaroo cub poked its head out of the pouch for the first time. Finally, four capybaras were born in January.
General manager Roel Huibers is enjoying the new acquisitions. "It's super beautiful to see all those young animals. You never get used to that, it remains enjoyable."
More young animals are expected to follow in the coming weeks. For next spring, the zoo also expects another young brazzamer cat and a camel. "And other than that, we'll let ourselves be surprised," Huibers says. "After all, you never know with animals."
