  • A fifth hand?

Yellow-breasted capuchin monkeys belong to the grasping-tail monkeys. These monkeys use their tails as a kind of fifth hand. This allows them to grab onto branches and are real acrobats in the trees! Yellow-breasted capuchin monkeys are also very smart. For example, they use tools to break open nuts, as well as small branches to catch small animals.

    Seriously threatened

Yellow-breasted capuchin monkeys are under serious threat. Unfortunately, much habitat is disappearing due to forest clearing. As a result, the yellow-breasted capuchin monkey is not seen much anymore in South America. European zoos are working with the Brazilian government to protect this beautiful species.
