Unlike most other lemurs, ring-tailed lemurs are active during the day. You can regularly see the ring-tailed lemurs sitting in yoga pose in the sun. In this way, the scent glands become more effective.
The scent glands on shoulders, wrists and buttocks are used to mark territories. In the mating season, males pass their tails along these glands to chase away other males with their stink-tails.
