When a gray-winged trumpeter bird sees danger it makes a lot of noise. This allows it to warn its peers. People in the Amazon region make good use of this. They keep trumpeter birds as pets and as watchers. Besides warning of danger, the birds also eat insects and snakes. So doubly useful!

    Saltos

Once a year is mating season in trumpeter birds. The female then mates with several males. To attract a female, the males perform enormous stunts. They dance around their partner with lots of jumps. In doing so, they make loud noises. In their excitement, a jump can even become a somersault.
